When I was 21 years old, I really thought I knew a lot about the world. At that point in my life, I had lived overseas, and I was going college. Soon, however, I realized how small my worldview was of the world.
Now that I am in my 50s, I realize how little I know of the world. Yes, I have traveled to different parts of the world, and I work with students from many parts every day, but I just seem to learn something new when I keep my eyes and heart open to new things.
For me, setting goals has been a part of this process. I try to learn something every day and try to improve my life because of it.
This picture was taken on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake in Utah. My wife and I visit the island every year for Valentine's Day. It is a time to reflect on what I have learned during the past year, and I try to commit to somehow make the world a better place in any small way.
So, how can each one of us make the world better? Share your ideas.
