Airplane Travel: Will you be charged by your weight?

Now that prices for airplane travel are increasing in different parts of the world, airline companies are trying to find ways on how to cut costs. Such measures might include charging for checked bags, not giving snacks and drinks to passengers during flights, and charging for in-flight movies. Now, companies might even consider charging you a fee based on your weight. In other words, the more you weigh, the more you pay. How would you feel if airlines had such a policy? Is it fair? Are better ways for the airline industry to pay for their own costs? Share your ideas.

  1. Basically, I understand the difficulty of Air-Liners causing by sky-rocketing fuel price.
so, like that extra charge for the baggage and some foods and drinks could make sense, but to charge people a fee based on their weight
is nonsense. Because the people's weight could not be managed by their intention or will.

  2. Owing to the oil prices crisis that the prices has been increased continuously. It'quite fair for the air-line to mark up the cost but I think it's not impartial for passenger that will be charged by their weight because sometimes they can not control weight and it's not their fault. It's suitable for charging them on something that thay carried.

  3. I agree the aviation's difficulty.
When I use an airplane,I was surprised to see what big passengers there are. So, it reminds me of sumo wrestlers. Are they charged more?

I think it's time to think finit enegry.

  4. Passangers can decide to bring more or less luggage or decide to bring the food and drinks with them when they are taking a flight. However, they can't lose their weight in a short time period. I don't think it's fair to overcharge overwight people on plane ticket. What's the normal weight? "overweight" is nothing but subjective opinion. How will aviation companies set the standardized weight in the policy? I think wihght and beauty are categorized under appearance. It's ridiculous and backward to treat people differently according to subjective factors.

  5. it is unfair to get extra fee for the weight, because airplane companies have already charge too much.

  6. i think it's totally unblance because the weight is not a tool to balance wether we should pay more price. we have right to pay the same price whatever we fat or thin.

  7. In one hand, there are some overweighting people, which couldn't take one seat only, because of their fatness. In this case, they have to buy two tickets to sit comfortable. Thereby, the government try to avoid passengers from fatal situations, like overweighting of the plane itself, that could causes an airplane crash. From the other hand, regulation & separation of people with great weight from another weighting category is the violation & hurting of their own rights & interests.

  8. It would be extremely discriminatory for airlines to charge passengers by weight. The money they made in increasing the charges would probably end up being given back in compensation payouts.

  9. Well, I think the problem overweight is difficult to solution but if there are people fat, they would be a place special inside the plane. that isn't discrimitation, that all they feel confortable.

  10. I agree with the charge by the weight. Because of the oil is decreaseing and not enough to use.
May be Airplane Travel can determine the price accoring one equation by human weight or so on. That would be a good resolvent.

  11. Airlines determine the price of passenger tickets. The price is usually calculated according to the expenditures that the airline has to make for the flight; so that it includes a certain percentage to cover the fuel needed to travel; and a particular percentage to cover the meals, snacks, and beverages served on board. I think it would be good if passengers knew how their moneys were used to cover the costs of air travel when they travel by plane. But provided that we all pay for airline expenditures when we buy our plane ticket, I don't see why more money should be required from passengers. Low cost airlines provide competitive prices to customers. However, the customer service they provide is much affected. For example, they don't serve meals but payable snacks and beverages.

  12. Hello! I agree with the last post before me. Probably, we already pay a lot of fees when we buy the ticket. I am totally desagree with nosnsense fees. Think about: I have to lost 3 kg because i have to travel. Crazy!! Really strange!

  13. I think that will be a really bad idea because the client is the reason to be of a company, in this case of an airline. Then their work is satisfy the need of the people where they focus their services procuring always profitings for them. And pay for our weight will be unfear for fat people and they are a high percent of world poblation. How ever it can be a possible estrategic to reach their mision and organizational objectives.

  15. A1-N.A: In my opinion,I disagree with this idea because the big passengers will pay a lot and they will be shy. and it make the big passengers feel uncomfortable

In my opinion, I think almost client want have a good seat.
But Airline determined the price of tickets. It would be good if they knew how their money's were used to helpful

air plane is one of the safest transport in the world so the increasing of the ticket will make it become the most annoying even the food serving will make it the worst so i thing air-plane should find out some way to solve that problem as soon as no one will use it anymore

  20. I truly think that's a nonsense idea cause you pay for a service per people, your weight mustn't determine if you should pay more or less than another person.

  21. If so, I think people will not choose this kind of airline. There are many competitors overall, budget or traditional, I think consumers are not idiot that choose that service provider.

  22. In my opinion, if I have to pay more because I am heavy, I will not choose this company to travel. There are other methods to earn money, without practice this type of thing.I agree to put prices on the movies and foods that are offered in the trip for example, because when you decide to make these decisions that I listed, you are in the same time thinking about all people that will use your service.

  25. Why don't we look at this in positive way? For overweight people and often travel by plane. Maybe there is a motivation which can help them find out the road not only to lose weight but also get health and well-being. Anyway, just my point of view. Wish you all have a nice day!

  26. Well, I don't think so because lots of people will think that that is a trick by the airline company to earn more cash than them. More, there are now lots and lots of fat people nowadays and they don't have much time to workout I think that this will be a huge disadvantage for them.
