Job Interviews

Going to a job interview can be a very nerve-racking experience, especially if you don't have any idea on what questions you might be asked. However, there are certain things you can do to prepare.

First of, do some research on the company. Visit its Web site, read information on the company, learn about the backgrounds of some of the workers there and their skills. Find out what kind of workers the company needs and determine how you can help fill those gaps.

So, give me your ideas. What things can you do to prepare and what kinds of questions could the company ask you? Share your ideas.

  1. Of course!Everyone feels nervous when go to a job interview. In my opinion, apart from the suitable outfit, attitude plays an important role. I believe that "smiling" is the most powerful weapon. Smiling makes others feel friendly. Smiling makes others wanna respond to you. Smiling makes you look like confident. Whatever, being as calm and postive as you can by means of smiling while interviewing.

  2. In an interview, of course, age, sex, race, etc. more or less become apparent and can influence the decision about hiring. Interestingly, in the UAE it is almost the norm to solicit potential employees on the basis of nationality, age, sex, religion, etc. But people don't complain about this much because they are happy enough just to have the opportunity to come and seek employment. In the US, on the other hand, no one can be denied employment based on race, sex, religion, etc. but one can be denied entry into the country altogether simply for hailing from a poorer region of the world. So, in comparison, a country like the UAE offers better employment opportunities despite the tendency to highlight race, religion, age, sex, etc.

  3. Interview is nightmare for everyone! But I enjoy for every interview. Why did I enjoy the stressfull interview.Because the different interviews let me know how am I now and what do I have to do in this situation.I think when you got more frustration and you will be strong. This is my option.I beg your pardon if the grammar is bad.

  4. The interview is almost last barrier to cross to get into the company. So, one who is desperate to go inside becomes so panic and sometimes, forget answers of very simple questions due to stress. On the other side of table, the examinor wants the interviewer open up and put forth the candid thoughts. He wanted to know whether the interviewer technically fits to the job, his presence of mind, humanity, and over all EQ ie Emotional Quotients. So, no need to become panic. More you get panic, more the chances you loose the job. But, beside all this, one must be prepared well before doing optimal practice...
Only 3 keys to success are
    Practice!
    Practice !!
    Practice !!!

  5. We're expected to talk about our previous experience in the job we're applying for, talk about ourselves and, although it is illegal here in Brazil, most of the companies require a photo on the resume. That's pretty much it - in a nutshel.

  6. I think that as in any new experience, going to a job interview involves a little bit of anxiety and nevousness. I think that those people who are able to cope with their fears and look self-confidents despite they are nervous or unconfortable are the kind of people the interviewer is looking for. And I am not saying it is easy, what is more I have gone to several job interviews and I admit that I have not done good in all of them beacause I was beaten by my fears and therefore I looked like a nervous person and believe me that is not what companies want.

I think that self-confindence is the lead, it will help you more than knowing what you will be asked about.

  7. The interview is a way to know who is the biggest lier, but you have to be clever.

  8. The job interview is crucial because for the employer that direct and human contact represents the opportunity to analyse the person that he or she is going to hire: the coherence of the speech, the suitable outfit, the way of being, etc. The CV may be very good but the interview
is so important that the decision of hiring somebody depends on the way the candidate express his or her ideas, the gestures he or she does and the impression that person gives. That is why people must be very careful. I believe that a good advice is to be yourself, to be confident and very sincere, this attitude may be very evident face to the others when someone assume it. Of course it is also linked to the specific characteristics that somebody expect of the candidate. Evidently I agree with someone who wrote that it is necessary to smile, that´s the better way of opening all the doors.

  9. in taiwan, interviewer will ask your educational background.
so, it's important to graduate from a good scool.

  10. In my country it is a must to put on your picture on your resume unlike in the u.s..
i think people here are a little discriminating.. they mostly based on your looks rather what you can share them mentally.. if you're prettier then you have big chances..i think brains are just secondary for them..weird huh.

in an interview what i do is of course make eye to eye contact with the interviewr..make sure you always wear that smile..open your eyes up as if you are so willing to listen to every word she has to say

sometimes you can change styles on how you want your interviewers are done depends on the personality or aura of that person you are talking to..you can talk or answer as if you are having a nice chit chat..not being way too serious just being yourself..

lastly, Don't be scared to talk and answer questions
in every interview just take a deep breath before entering the door that releases tensions..
always think this is it! i have to give my best and speak out..or else i wouldn't land that job and start all over again..

  11. Actually in Mexico, the interviews are in english and spanish for several reasons.
I consider that the interviewers want to know about the background of every future employee. They want to know about his age, status, experience, information about his skills, languages. By the way is not common if an interviewer ask you about your race of religion. I consider the most important in an interview is to be calm and say all the time the true about your background.

  12. In Brazil is very commom people post their photo on a resume, mainly when they are looking for a job that deals with the public. Although the interviewers don't leave this impression and try to show that the important is how good and prepared for the job you are, everybody knows that the appearance and an indication are very important and make your hire easier.

  13. Ten common questions asked during a job interview
    1-Tell me about yourself
2-Have you ever done this type of job before?
3-Why do you want to work here
    4-What are your future plans
5-Why did you leave your last job
    6-What is your greatest strenght
    7-How did you describe yourself
8-How long do you plan to stay with this company
9-Why would you hire you instead of someone else
    10-Do you have any questions?

It's natural to feel nervous but don't let that overwhelm you!
Knowing, anticipating the questions before and having in your mind answers you'll come up with..Taking a deep breath before.. relaxing, relaxing and relaxing... Trusting yourself and being confindent are different way to counteract nervosity.

Again trust yourself and you'll get it!!!

Also, don't forget to mail a thank you note directly to your interviewer (purposes= give a positive impression, restate your interest in the job, remind the interviewer of you)and to be effective in your follow-up.

In my opinion, the questions about religion or your status (single or not), that's just a test. Don't think it seriously. Just answer correctly. The important thing is self confidence.

  32. Interview is an exam that test our capability to work.

I think, interview always be the same wherever you are. The question that asked to us didn't change. it is always about our education, background, etc.
Sometime, our characteristic also needed by them.

And usually, our language also take part in it.
So, let's study harder, harder, and harder to achieve the perfect job.

So what should we do to get hired? Be ready to answer all sorts of questions, concerning, first of all, your education, your previous job and your experience. Don't be nervous, believe in yourself and your success. Who knows, maybe you'll be placed immediately. Otherwise don't be discouraged, desperated and frustrated. 68. Well, actually the job interbiew now is like an art) There are a lot of web-sites, articles etc. abot "How to Successfully Pass the Job Interview" on the one hand it is right on the other not at all because such interviews are made to find out more infornation about the person and about the job he or she seeks. Just imagine if you're an employer you have at least one job opening and you want to hire a really good worker it's not a benefit for you because if a person got ready for the interview, learning much about behaviour, speech etc. in the interview you can hire not the person you are looking for! So if I was an employer, certainly, I would have an interview with a person but I didn't rely on it, I would offer a person a job if I let him or her to work a little as intern, because only here you can see who this worker really is.

Those people who are afraid of interviews, they tremble, bumble and feel very nervous. Of course, their chances to get this job are very low. So, if you want to be successful and make a good impression, then you should be concentrated and be ready to answer all even unexpected questions,be calm and confident with a smile on your face. Don't be upset if you are not given your desired position. Then you get more experience and if you understand all your mistakes it'll be much easier to pass the next interview.

Everyone has to face the problem of job hunting and it will be different for all of us. And of course the first step in it is to know how to successfully pass an interview. So, we think that one must try some mock interviews at first and he/she won't be so nervous during a REAL interview with their potentional employer.
    As William Shakespeare ones said:
    All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players...

  77. One of the most difficult problems a young person faces is choosing a career. There are individuals, of course, who know exactly even at the age of six that they want to be doctors or fire fighters, but the majority of us do not get around to making decision about an occupation until somebody or something forces us to face the problem. Choosing an occupation takes time, and there are a lot of things you have to think about as you try to decide what you would like to do. If you understand how to crack the job-market, you are likely to obtain an interview for the position, you have chosen. A job interview is one of the most important tasks in the process of job-hunting and if you don't make costly mistake, you'll be chosen as a candidate to your dream job.

  79. Hello,I'm a student, and now i'm working toward my degree.I haven't got any experience of job-interview yet,but to my mind it's not difficult. So,a job-interview is like an exam. You come to your future employer and have a test. And now,Imagine the situation at your exam . You know all the information, so why are you worried? The same thing, when you go to the company with the knowledge, skills, diploma, and experience. You know everything about yourself, don't you?yes, of course, who else can know it better?)Therefore it'll be easy to fill in a form or to tell about yourself. Try to remember your exam in the 9th form. Your story'll be like that, but it'll be vaster answer to the questions of your employer(your background, age, last jobs, your experience, languages you speak)Is it hard?I think no)) I agree that the moment is nervous and stressful, but you should stay calm. You must be confident, if you want to get this job. Employers want to see the best candidate in their company. So smile a lot,as you're on tete-a-tete.
And remember, that smile and laughter prolong our lives!
    Good luck!

  80. Choosing a career path will be one of the biggest decisions you will make in your life. Interview is an important and very difficult step of applying for a job. You should be a self-confident, competetive, easygoing, placid, and sociable person. Try not to be nervous, have a way with an interviewer and smile a lot. Don't get offended if you are rejected. Life is a learning experience.

  81. Job interview? My God, when I imagine this sutiation when I'm sitting towards a stony stare of my potential employer my knees begin tremble and my heart beat with an enormous speed. However the more I read and listen to people's previous experience about job-interview the more I realize that only we ourselves, our fears, spoil the whole picture of successful, effective conversation with the employer.
    Deep breath.
    A glass of water.
You are the most confident, smart, hardworking and competent person in that desired career field. You fit excellent that position. And you know that! So, why don't you just calm down and show all your benefits and advantages to that person in suit and tie?
It's only half an hour of either your success or your fail. So, this choice depends only on your.
It's better to choose the first one, right?)
And the last thing (I know it's horrible, but it works), imagine a person who is going to be operated on, or who has recently lost a member of his family. Divorce, robbery, car accident, fire, flood, terrorist act, mass epidemic. The world is full of real, not exaggerated terrible events. And what are you doing? You are just sitting in a comfortable chair in a modern office and talk to a respective person about your future work for that company.
    Just do it.

  82. Interviews can be different so it's a little bit unfear tell that it's a nightmare or an easiest part of the equation of getting a job.Of cause if you have boundless knowledge it's nothing to worry about.Or simply the interviewer can be not interested in your speech prepared in advance only because he or she have a headache or his or her drive license isn't clean now. There lots of circumstances we can't deal with. So the only way in this situation is to be ready for almost everything and do all things, prepare all answers that could be necessary for landing this job.

My teacher adviced me to do exercises on the site. I made myself to fulfill them. I liked them immensely!
As I see it, you should match your abilities and skills with the ones, required for the job. Don`t hesitate! Be confident. Be well-prepared. Think over your self-presentation ( your speech, your appearence, your behaviour) before hand. Get as much information about the main ideas and approaches of the company, you are appling to. Don`t forget about your CV, covering letter, personal statement. Good luck!

  88. Of course choosing a career path is a very difficult and nervous process,it`s one of the most important decissions in your life! I think when choosing a career path you should follow the other steps:
-first of all don`t procrastinate, because you're going to miss a lof opportunities
-be calm, try all the variants: employment agences,want-ads,prosperous friends and, of course, explore your choise of occupation from every angle.
I think that your life depends on your career! Make sure that you have chosen the career not because it provides a lof money, but because you really love it and want to grow with it!
    Good luck!=)

  89. I think the purpose that a company ask us to go to a interview is to know our behavior. So when we are in the interview,no matter what questions we're asked. We should try our best to answer it.

  90. I'm one of the people who nervs about attending the interview.
but if I diceded to have an interview to get a new job, I have some regulations I'm going to implement. First of all I'll try to impress thr interviewers by wearing a gentle suit and keeping myself calm, second of all I ask him about everything concerned with the work like pension and satisfiction of his epmloyees.

  91. In my opinion preparing and practicing interview questions really helps. My suggestion would be to use a voice recorder to listen to your voice and how you answer questions and work to improve it.
In my current country of residence its always a good idea to write the legal status of work in the CV.
    thank you

  93. In my country, employer are use to ask all kind of question. We even have to add on our resume picture, sex, race, religion, marriage status, kids and more. And all that has a influence on hiring. For example, if you are married and/or have kids, you may have less possibilities of finding a job, the same occurs if you are too old, or don't have a physical fit for the company. Which at my point of view, I don't believe is a right thing to do, because they are racist and discriminating people for work. CF.

  94. I have recently sent a CV and a covering letter to work in a booming industry during summer time. I applied on line for the position; and something that I appreciated much was that the company website mentioned that no photograph was necessary in the CV. In other words, the company weighs the pros and cons of candidates according to their experience and skills. This is a factor that should always prevail, I think. I did mention my age and the fact that I was single because in Europe, these are things applicants have to mention in their CV and covering letter. The field in which I intend to work has a big role to play in the world economy; and visiting the websites of companies around the world, I noticed that many people who work in that field have children. I do agree that having chidren and a marital life can be a serious disadvantage in some sectors because women might have to leave early from work to look after their children. In Europe, to solve the problem, the companies themselves have their own kindergarten so that there be no problems for the employees who have children. However, the situatuation seems to be getting even worse in Europe because a friend of mine who once worked as head of department in a big company told me that companies are turning down people who have children, and who are old. We do need solutions for our (over)crowded planet. By the way, the company to which I applied gave me a positive answer for the job; now I must do my best and not disappoint them.

  97. The first thing you need to prepare for interview is your looks. It's very important because it's show respective to the company and no one wants a person whose hair looks like a mophead.
The second thing is you need to answer the question they give honestly. They know how to recognise a person's lying, so if you lied, that will caught up a huge problem for your chance to take the job.
And finally, if they asked about some questions you would like to ask them, do it. That way will shows that you are a person who are really interested about this job and may affect your chances as well.
