Telemarketing: How do you feel about sales calls?

Imagine you are sitting down to dinner, and the phone rings. You pick up the phone, and it is someone trying to sell you a magazine, swimming pool, or a new cell phone service plan. How do you react and feel about sales calls? Do they provide an important service to consumers, or are they just annoying. Should the government control telemarketing? Should these business only be allowed to call you during certain times of day? Please share your ideas.

  1. I hate phone call telemarketings. I think they ruin people's privacy and they are very pushy.

When I recieve this kind of phone calls, I disconnect it and I say I never respond to any phone calls telemarketings.

  2. Oh, i don't like telemarketing. They just annoy everyone and so rude with the other person. I meant they behave as they are our father. And another reason is that all their products have bad quality.

  3. In my case, I don't mind of getting sales calls though they must be absolutely unpleasant interruption in my daily life. I mean, I'm ready to handle it in a simple, but polite way. I think as long as we live in the world that is saturated with advertisements, it is true that we are exposed to the greedy commercialism all the time, in other words, there is never a day to avoid any ads in life. However, what worries me is the victim of telemarketing fraud, which defraud people all the ways concocting new schemes. I think it is urgent that the goverment should shape a policy to allow only the legitimate enterprises to give calls to the consumers so that innocent consumers can be protected from unwholesome commerce.

  5. i like answering the telemarketers just to talk with them when i am not busy because sometime you can get a great deal. You can get a great discount on a new product, for example if you were looking for a new computer and apple telemarketer call you to offer you the new ipad with 25%, i think you will not refuse it right.

  6. Telemarketing executives should call bur again during specific a specific time of the day. They should not buzz during the wee hours of the morning when everyone seems to be busy with important work. However they may call some other time when its beneficial to both the company and the customer.Again, they should never compel us to gain knowledge about their products when we are least interested to buy.

  7. Oh, I really hate receiving their calls. What I do is just disconnect it when the telemarketer speaks. It is really annoying as we might be doing some very impoetant work. So i think there should be a specific period of time, so that it will be beneficial for both of us.

  10. We frequently get calls from telemarketers trying to sell us membership to cable television networks; but we are already subscribers and have the necessary appliances and many channels on our television. I realised, however, how desperate telemarketers are to sell something, because they get a bonus on every deal that they manage to finalise. Come to think of it, telemarketer is a job that I really would not like to do.

  12. Well, I feel there should be specific hours to call a person,Because these are kinda call which are least expected. So nobody likes to waste time on unimportant things.Coming to the Oher part of the question,I think its not always advisable to give your personal information to others. But it can be beneficial at times if you find the offers lucrative enough.

  13. hi....
I just hate the sales calls.
first-upon,they don't have any restriction and call someone at any time and try to convince them for their offer then whether next one is interested or not.their calls may interrupt to someone while meetings or any work and thats irritating one.
so their should be the restriction on their calling to anyone at anytime.

  16. I find them so annoying. Even after telling them that I really don't want to buy what they're selling they keeping calling on the next day,weeks,months...If want to buy anything I go after it myself.and c'mon, most of what they sell is stuff that we usually don't need.

  17. Hello this is Brian

I would like to talk about my opinion on the telemarketing. When I receive a phone call about selling something, and while they are looking for me and want to talk to me about their products or services, I tell them 'Brian' is not living here anymore. So they are going to remove the name of 'Brian' on their database. As telemarketer calls me, I feel annoying because they always offer me useless. Generally, I buy something after study what products or services are benefit to me and my family. No by phone.

  18. I don't think we need a law to restrict the telemarketers from calling us anytime, it's their job we need to understand that. It's their way to earn a living. To stop the telemarketers from calling us and don't want to hear their annoying offer you need to have your own strategy to avoid encountering their call. First, you have to make a list or try to remember the number their using from calling but their very wise now to deceive us that they are not from telemarketing company. However, if happen you answered the phone and the telemarketers start talking to their products tell him/her to hold on. "Hold on please" three words will stop them and waste their time waiting for you to comeback. For this instance, you help another person from receiving annoying calls from them. From that moment, from waiting they couldn't make another call to bug anyone. Secondly, just be polite on telling them that they don't want to subscribe to their offer and say goodbye. If they still insist their offer that's the time to hang up the phone:)

And I think, to stop the telemarketers from calling the government should create a law to restrict the companies from disclosing our personal information. In this case, they don't have access to anyone's information.

  19. I think it's relatively important that you don't give your personal number phone in surveys or non-safe websites.
Nowadays a lot of marketing or advertising companies use database for promoting their products without authority of their owns. It's a terrible issue but it exists in our society. Please, not give personal information because it might be used for prohibited situations and damage of your personal data.

  21. I think companies can offer their services but only once and respect the people opinions or positions about it.

  22. To tell the truth, I got this situation before and it's way too annoying. These companies should stop doing because there won't be a single person wanted to buy your product.
