I also believe that it’s quite tricky to get the stress of English words right. Therefore, it’s quite important to be familiar with the phonetic system of the English language if one does not want to be misunderstood. One might convey a completely different message from what s/he has intended to if s/he places the stress on the wrong syllable or on words which are not usually salient in a sentence.
