School Drink Machines: Should kids decide?

A hot topic of discussion in many parts of the world is whether schools should ban drink machines with certain types of soda (Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, etc.) for health reasons and replace these drinks with healthier choices like milk, water, and fruit juice. However, others feel that schools make money from these drinks, and students should be allowed to decide for themselves. What do you think about this topic? How do people in your area and country feel about this issue? Share your ideas.

Here are the results of my poll on the topic.

  1. I ensure that each person always wants to cool drink whenever they feel thirty.
If they decide to drink coca, pepsi, soda.. there is just their own choices. They are old enougt to know whether above drinking affect to health.
So, I think shools shouldn't ban drinking machines of soda, or pepsi.. etc!!!

  2. It can be allowed by maintaining quality service and good drinks.
Students option can also be given first chance.

  3. The responsibility of school is teaching the students which one is better ,or what kind of conduct should be avoided. We are living in the real society, nobody could be powerful enough to control others' life, except ourselves. So we should let young childern make choices by themselves.
surely , the right can not go beyond the limit

  4. You can say that again! I think ss should learn about which food is healthy for themselves, but not through the rigid rule of no soda machine. As a matter of fact, they have access to those beverages in convenient stores or somewhere else. Forbidding the selling of this kind of drinks might be better than banning the drinking machine in school.

  5. I think students should be allowed to decide for themselves. They should get a taste of what it is like to exercise democracy while still in school. They must have the right to choose what they want to drink.
However, they should also be advised and taught that these kinds of drinks are not as healthy as fruit juice, for instance.
After being taught that, they'll have enough backgound knowledge to make their own decisions.

  6. I think that teachers decide almost of them. If children decide all of the drinks, the drinks will not have a well-baranced. Then children buy it everyday.

  8. hello my name is Armando Esteban Quito. I think that students should take their own decisions because, when you are an adult you haven't got a teacher or a person telling you what you have to say or to do. So you have to get used to making your decisions.

  12. at the first, i think the schools provide awareness sessions about healthy drinks and snacks . Then put a vending machine to decide student if they buy or not . juice , light chocolate , milk , water , nuts , mini plate of salad .

  13. I think the most healthy snacks are more expensive... so, because of this de schools don´t want to buy...
I searched some healthy snacks, and I found a page by internet loja. vasp. pt. There is a diversity of snacks with prices like 1,99 each unit.

  14. I don't think so. Because many students didn't want these heathy drinks, they are just thristy and want something to pleasure themselves. I think the school shouldn't done that not only it will affect the whole thing but also losing funds of themseleves.
