If someone came to your city in your country to visit, what is one thing they should know about it in order to adjust quickly and not make any cultural mistakes? For example, I live in Utah in the United States, and the citizens of the state, by and large, are conservative. In fact, many people don't drink alcohol or drink coffee for religious reasons. Thus, you shouldn't give such items as a gift when visiting many homes. The best thing to do is to ask others living in the area what would be an appropriate gift.
So, tell us something that people ought to know about your culture before they arrive? Share your ideas.

ReplyDeleteBrazilians are known for being very friendly and tactile people. However, visitors should be careful with this overgeneralization. Please don't go hugging and kissing everyone you meet in a very affecionate way because some of us will feel uncomfortable. :-)
ReplyDeletePeople in Taiwan always treat foreigners very well.
ReplyDeleteHowever, remember not to give clocks as gifts to your Taiwanese friends or you might take chance losing them. That's because the pronunciation of'giving a clock' in Chinese is 'song chung' which means the giver wants to attend the receiver's funeral. It'll bring receivers really bad bad bad fortunes.
Korea is one of the Confucianism country so some of you come to korea on business and your partner invite you at his house, you should not give loving and affectionate kiss or hug to your partner's wife. if not, you lost your partner's mind before you get down to business. (-_-)
ReplyDeleteIf you come to my country which is Pakistan you will notice that everyone wearing the long dress and that long dress call Shalwar Kameez. And one thing is that you don't kiss when u meet someone in my country you shake your hands and say Assalaam Alykum. I agree with Bruno beacuse if you visited the county first time you will feel uncomfortable beacuse you don't know what to do and what to say that time. On my personal experience I am in USA right now. When i came here i felt really uncomfortable beause i didn't know what to do where to go what to ask.!
