Favorite Holiday

Holidays and festivities are an important part of our cultures, and understanding the holidays of others (especially when traveling overseas) can help us appreciate other people more. So, please share with us your favorite holiday from your country: what day is it, how is it celebrated, and what special foods and drink are associated with it?

  1. hi there, this is houcien from morocco.
festivals and feasts are very important in humans' culture. in morocco, we celebrate two important religious feasts during the year. the first one takes place right after Ramadan: the main thing we do in this feast is to visit our relatives, we call it ' womb relation'. the second feast takes place two mounths after Ramadan. in this occasion, we slot a sheep, or we provide a sheep to allah as the prophet abharam peace be upon him did.this feast is mainly about visiting our relations'womb relation' and it is not about eating meat. thanks

  2. Hi, I'm from Russia. There are different kinds of holidays in my country like soviet holidays, cristians holidays, new Russia holidays and so on. But only two of thema are common for all people (I suppose) - New Year (1st of january) and Day of Victory (9th of may) when we celebrate our victory over nazist Germany.

  3. Well, I don't I have a favorite holiday. I just think every public holiday along the year is an opportunity to visit friends and family members. Here in Brazil, most of us have long working hours and there's very little left for family and friends. Sometimes we have a 4-to-5 day holiday and most of us travel to other cities or states just for the sake of having some fun.

  6. in my opinion the best holidays of all is the summer, because you get months of holidays you can go to other countries for long visit and you can enjoy because you don't have to go to school for a long time. and you don't have to work hard like you usually do at school.

  9. Hi,everyone~ I am from Taiwan.
My favorite holiday is Chinese New Year which often starts in February each year. It usually lasts about five or six days. During this period, most of family members will come home and get together to celebrate this moment. I love to spend time having dinner with my cousins and other relatives on New Year's Eve. After dinner, we will have some tea and play games or card together. Moreoevr, there is an important tradition that is elderly people in family will give each child a red envelope. This represents "luck" and "happiness". Whatever, I do believe Chinese New Year is the most important holiday to all the Chinese people around the world.
