Right now, it's Saturday morning at a 7:00 a.m. and my kids will be getting out of bed soon. For us, Saturday is a time when we do our major household chores for the week. Actually, our kids have to do a smaller chore everyday except for Sunday, but this is the day when they are assigned a chore inside our outside the house. These chores might include cleaning the bathrooms or pulling weeds around the house. My wife and I feel that this helps them learn responsibility and how to take care of themselves once they move out of the house.So what about in your country or family? What are your family or cultural expectations on who is responsible for cleaning around your house? Do you feel it is important for children to do such work? Why or why not? Please share your ideas.

Although we can pay for someone to do the household chores but we love to do them by ourselves.
ReplyDeleteMy kids are still very young, but we try to train them to do some household chores which they can. Do household together is a chance to glue every members in a family, it helps us to have more responsibility and more love our house.

ReplyDeleteIn Mexico it is a custom that the women have to do the household chores,because the men has to work to support the family.
In some cases, both the couple have to work, but he woman have to do the work on the house anyway.
I think every member in a family have to help cleaning the house, including the kids, because it is important give them a good example, they need to learn about responsability in their own house.
Children in Brazil are also assigned some chores both inside and outside their houses, and we also believe that this helps them learn responsibility. Sometimes they are even asked to go to the supermarket and buy things for the house. Both young Brazilian girls and boys are expected to do the same chores. At least in my family, genre doesn't have any sort of influence on the kind of task they're going to do. Besides, both boys and girls should be able to do all sorts of tasks around the house; after all, nowadays , both men and women are working outside their home and therefore they should help each other.

My mother and father would arrange the household chores on weekends to my brothers and me when we were children. According to this experience, we have learnd how to take care our home. I real appreciate my parents who educated me by doing household chores.
ReplyDeleteIn Brazil most of the families pay for someone to do the chores. I think some of them don´t really have that extra money but educate their children in a bad way, besides they have the idea that the women must do everything around the house even if she works out. We need to change our mind. I think every member in a family have to help and be happy.
ReplyDeleteIn Spain, traditionally, household chores are done by women. However, this situation is changing slowly but steadly and more men share the responsibility of the house.

In Korea usually household chores done by women because it is one of korean old culture but now it has little bit change because most women have a job because of this lot of men do household chores for family.

But also the men who have done so, because they live alone in their homes or are living in travel by their wives.
Household chores that include their own; washing dishes, cleaning rooms, cooking, and so that we always do at home.

Hi,I´m working out home all the day.My husband and I have two daugthers. He is crain drive.In my case, I must do all household chores.Nowadays, it believe that it´s responsability of women...I disagree, I think every member in a family have to help cleaning the house but,if father don´t clean never, kids do the same. I´m very angry and tired. My husband doesn´t understand anything about house, I think he´s very lazy, and he needs to change his mind. Bye. That´s all for now.

ReplyDeleteMy name's My. I'm from Vietnam. In my family, on weekdays, everyone has their own jobs. My parents go to work. My sister and I go to school. We don't have much to gather together. So, to my family, doing household chores at weekends is a way to have some happy time with the family. And of course, it also helps our house to be clean. Besides, on weekdays, when I have free time, my sister and I sometimes help my mother with the housework, especially with the cooking. :)
