Best ESL/EFL Teacher: How did this person influence you?

Having a great language teacher (whether it be English or some other language) can influence students on whether or not they improve and use their communication skills in and out of the classroom. So, please share your experiences and feelings about a language teacher that helped you learn and describe what exactly the teacher did to motivate you. What is your image of the ideal teacher?

  1. The teacher is definitely a very important element in the learning process. The languaje teacher as well as any other kind of theacher should know about psychology, know how to motivate the student and help them to be confident with what they are doing. I had a very good teacher in Montreal, Canada and for me he is the ideal teacher. He was truly interested in the students learning process as well as in their lives. He invented day by day new ways to make a pleasant class through different kind of games and activities. He actually used to buy some little presents for the winers of the games. He was always smiling and transmiting his high energy. He didn´t skimp on congratulate people for their improvements. He is a person that really loves and finds ways to reflect that in the work he does.

  3. I think good teachers value their students' previous knowledge/experience with/in the language. Good teachers will probably do anything to help their students improve their knowledge of the language as well as humanize the teaching of it. And last but not least, good teachers help students to become autonomous and not overdependent on their teachers.

  4. i has a ideal teacher like lucy. He is truly angel with me. Before i met him, i had hated english. In school, i just care about chemistry, maths and physics but now my favourite subject is english. He always makes the vibrant, pleasant environment in class and motivates his students to try the best. He teaches as an actor, a doctor, a psychologist and parents do. He helps us confident when we depress, he makes us laugh when we are nervous and he knows all our foible to support for our improvements in learning language. When you see him work, you will feel how he indulge and enjoy his job.

But now i have our headmaster in english. He have probably all the thinks that a teacher must have. He motivate the students very well and support students if they have problems.
He got us this website and now a have the chance to learn more and more and more. Hopefully a learn as much as i can to get a good english mark in my exam.

  6. A good teacher influence us through his behaviour his energy. he should indulgent but not too much, he must be close to his student if he wants us to learn.
I got a teacher in primary school who was very passionate. she transmitted us her good mood doing us activities (she organised some journey to England, made us realize some English customs, doing video activities, entertainment etc) and was always positive. we could easily communicate with her without having doubts.
my best reward about this class was that i easily learn English (i lost a lot afterwards). this classrom was a time to relax, to have a break, and really enjoyful.
compared to the teachers i got this years, i confused. i mean tey stressed us lot about succeeding our exams. it's a bit too much. irritable. and they don't make us be determine. it don't motivate us personally.
