The Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics has just concluded in Canada this week, and many inspiring events and human stories took place during the games. If you have the ability to compete at the Olympics, in which event would you participate and why? Do you know anyone personally who has been a part of the Games? If so, what did they learn from the experience?

A number of years ago, I had the famous short track speed skater, Yang Yang, from China, in my English class in Salt Lake City around the time of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. A wonderful student and person.

  1. I like watching TV and seeing the different people showing themselve, but one interesting thing is there is no snows in Vancouver, the organizers had to get some of them from others, upon hearing it on TV, it let me think all the culprits would be the "warming of the earth", if things like it going on, we might not see the game any more in the near future.

  3. Hello everyone,

Although I like sports, I'm afraid I don't have any ability to compete in any event at the Olympics. However, I'd love to be part of that - not as an athelet, but as someone in charge of the logistics of it. It must be gratifying to see the results of all the hard work and energy put into organizing such an important event.
Being part of that would also be a unique opportunity to be in direct contact with people and different cultures from all over the world.

I want to attend speed skate race.Skating is very exiting and fun.To make good record,I will have to take repetitive exercise like lifting weight. But I like such exercise,so I think it matches me somehow.

  5. I would like to participate in figure skating. For me, it's lovely to behold. I can display my gracefulness freely after I've practiced on it. It's fun and I'm sure , people would enjoy watching me. - Yek-yek- PHILIPPINES

  6. Hi everybody!

I like practising Sports but I must admit that I do not like cold at all! Nevertheless if I had the opportunity to be part of the O.G., well that would be in... figure skating. I just found it amazing how people can stand on ice and be so graceful at the same time. I wish I could do that just to know for a while what being a swan looks like...
