Social Networking Sites - The good and the bad

Social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace (and many others) have become extremely popular these days; however, there is ever increasing discussion on how these sites benefit users as well as affect users negatively. Do these sites promote better communication and improve old and new relationships, or do they distract users and affect their productivity at school and work? What are your feelings and experiences on this topic?

  1. Hello Randall and everyone!! :-)

This is an interesting topic to be discussed over and over again, since lots of people have different viewpoints on the issue. I myself think it boils down to the fact that we should learn how to take advantage of this technology and not let it affect us negatively.

It's great to network with teachers and students from different countries. Learning through collaboration is one of the 21st century key skills any learner should be equipped with to make the most of his/her experience especially in an online environment.

Becoming members of online communities for teachers of English was another way I found to develop myself professionaly.

I'd like to take this opportunity to invite you teachers out there to register with a couple of them:

    Hope you enjoy them!

  2. The importance of social networking sites in today's world is immense. Indeed, the above mentioned websites are best, however there is also a latest Social Networking site MyworldGo , where you can connect with others. We are also available on iOS and android.
