Happy New Year, 2009!

I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year, 2009! What do you usually do on this day to celebrate the new year? Share your thoughts. Personally, I am spending the new year with my family, and we will probably play games, watch TV, and tell stories.

Best,

Randall

  1. Randell,

Happy New Year to you and your family!

As usual, I spent my first day of the New Year in my room, listing 10 most important things I wish to finish during 2009. Until the last day of the year, I will go back to check how many things I have finished. Then, my family and I went to the "little Sheep" restaurant to eat the hot pot. It is a traditional family meal to celebrate the New Year. Every number of the family sits by the hot pot, eating while chatting. Though the weather outside is cold, everyone feel the warmth of a big family.

    best,

    Ellen

  2. My wife and I usually celebrate the turn of the year (and the whole first day of the year) with my family, because my mother's birthday is on January 1st. She'd never forgive me if I decided to spend the first day of the year with somebody else, somewhere else..
At the turn of the year, we usually go the beach to see the fireworks. However, before that, we have a barbecue at home, where most of our close relatives and friends come and join us. There's usually a lot of food, soft and alcoholic drinks. We also enjoy playing board games and pool.

  4. Hi there, Happy New Year to everybody.
I am from Argentina and we wait the new year with our family and/or friends.
Generally, we have a dinner late at night whilewe talk and laugh. We use to make fireworks and usually there are a lot of noise, so if you have a pet, specially a dog, it will be terrified with the noise. Dogs trye to get refuge under the table or under the bed. I am really feel sorry for them.
Anyway, when is almost 12 we lift our glasses and toss wishing each other a happy New Year.

  5. maybe I will use my new year holiday to relax, of course with my family and at home. I actually don't like crowds and noises after the time I've worked so hard. although I'm still a freshmen student, but I'm doing part-time job. it's strange in my country. i want to save money to study for an international certificate about accounting. i had listed all things I want to gain before 2008's ending. but i also realize that "if everything is important, that means nothing is important.". in brief, I think I will make a clearly and practical timetable for working effectively in 2009.
